walking in Czechland
Here's a weird one: What kind of brain damage is responsible for Czechs driving on the proper side of the road – the right, unless you're japan or the UK (and Northern Ireland when paddy is sober enough to stay on the road) – yet in pedestrian situations they walk on the left side of the sidewalk? Is it just me? This is as bewildering to me as it is to them when they bump into me on the street, in the corridor, or in the supermarket. But not as amusing as when they are forced to do a frowning left-right shimmy-step as they try to determine whether they are walking on the wrong side of the pathway.
Which they are...naturally...
